WorldMUN 2009 (22 - 27 March 2009)

Harvard World Model United Nations (WorldMUN) is the most diverse college-level UN conference in the World and the largest outside North America. Every year about 1,500 college students from over 35 countries attend WorldMUN in a different location around the world; past locations include Genava, Switzerland; Bejing, China; Belo Horizonte, Brazil; Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt. The conference last one week in March and combines committee sessions during the day with nightly social events. The events provide delegates with an amazing way to experience the host-country and to learn from students from around the world.

What is Harvard Model UN?

Harvard World Model UN is a simulation in which participants are assigned county positions in certain UN and International Organizations, such as the World Health Organization and the Social Humanitarian Cultural Committee. Over a series of sessions they debate a certain topic decided beforehand from the position of their assigned country. It is an amazing experience to hone one's negotiation skills as well as get a chance to broaden one's perspective on a variety of international topics. The sessions are moderated by a director and are run under rules of parliamentary procedure. Model UN has becoming increasingly popular over the past decade, with conferences being held around the world.

Worldmun 2009 is hosted by the team from United Netherlands from Radboud University Nijmegen. Please visit their website for more information. (http://www.worldmun2009.org)
